Reverend Willie Tillman III Biography and Passion to Serve Christ
Reverend Willie Tillman III spent most of his life growing up as a native of beautiful Charleston, SC. At the age of twelve while at a local church attending Vacation Bible School, Rev. Tillman accepted Jesus into his heart as Lord and Savior. Shortly thereafter Rev. Tillman joined Gospel Light Baptist Church and became a mentor under the leadership of Pastor John, Sr. Pastor. Weekly teams would go into the neighborhood visiting new attendees and/or door to door witnessing. This is where seeds of evangelism, soul winning, and pastoral care were birthed into the heart of Rev. Tillman at a very young age.
As Rev. Tillman entered into high school, football became a passion as he excelled within the sport. Encouraged by his coaches to set his sights towards playing at the college level, he set his goals to obtain a full football scholarship. Rev. Tillman began developing aspirations to become a professional football player, playing in the NFL as his choice career. At this point, football became an idol and a god to him and he stopped attending church altogether. During his senior year of high school Rev. Tillman accomplished his goal of receiving a full football scholarship to a division one college.
Before enrolling into college, Rev. Tillman was invited by a friend to attend a Christian Summer Youth Camp for one week. Towards the end of that week he was radically touched by the Holy Spirit and made a recommitment to serve Jesus with his life. He decided to turn down the football scholarship and his dream of football and attended a small Christian college for one year after graduating high school. A few years later, Rev. Tillman received a full scholarship to attend Liberty Bible Institute in Lynchburg, VA. While attending, he discovered and developed his passion for preaching, teaching, evangelism, and soul winning, just as he did when he was younger. The passion to reach the lost and to encourage the body of Christ ignited in Rev. Tillman as he flourished in his academic studies. Rev. Tillman graduated from LBI with a 3.35 GPA with an Associate’s in Pastoral Theology.
In April 2015, Rev. Tillman was ordained into the Gospel ministry. Today Rev. Tillman works bi-vocationally at a local landscaping company as well as serving as a minister on staff at The Shield of Faith Church in Hanahan, SC with Pastor Robert Tilton as Sr. Pastor. Rev. Tillman also presides as the Founder of TKO (Totally Kingdom Operated) Ministries, where he speaks to various churches, youth groups, and at a variety of ministry events. With his cross-cultural gifting’s he is available to minister to the youth, young adults, as well as adults in any setting. The need for relevant communicators of the Gospel is vital in this age of conditional compromise.
